Following last Saturday's tremendously successful UAF conference - the biggest anti-fascist conference for many many years UAF are now gearing up for a series of Days of Action against the BNP.

Biggest anti-fascist conference for years: UAF/LMHR national event a big success

by Anindya Bhattacharyya Over 600 anti-fascist activists from around the country met in London on Saturday of last week for a lively and determined conference organised by Unite Against Fascism. The conference discussed stopping the British National Party (BNP) at the 4 May local elections. The conference saw a large turnout of young people and students, many of whom had got involved in Unite through the Love Music Hate Racism (LMHR) campaign against the BNP in schools and colleges. Dominique Walker, the sister of teenager Anthony Walker who was murdered by racists in Liverpool, gave a moving speech to the conference.

TIM WESTWOOD

Music is a powerful force to bring young people of different race and religion together. The need to fight racism is a moral duty.

Racism is a disease in this, our country, good 'old Britannia', but a disease i believe there IS a cure for. A disease, like any other that must be battled, researched and in the end conquered!

Bend It Like Beckham director Gurinder Chadha backs LMHR

Award-winning writer and director Gurinder Chadha will be speaking at the UAF/LMHR national conference this weekend. Gurinder's films, including popular hits like Bend It Like Beckham, Bride and Prejudice and Bhaji on the Beach have all dealt with racism in British society and beyond, in a funny and accessible yet insistent way. Nick Griffin and Mark Collett court case

All at Love Music Hate Racism regret the outcome of the Nick Griffin and Mark Collett court case. The BNP is a racist party, which has been described as a Nazi organisation by the Standards Board of England and Wales only last year.

Does the right to freedom of speech justify printing the Danish cartoons?

... the right to freedom of speech equates to neither an obligation to offend nor a duty to be insensitive.

ROCK AGAINST RACISM: WE WANT REBEL MUSIC OPENING NIGHT REVIEW

“Rock Against Racism: We Want Rebel Music” kicked off last week in true Love Music Hate Racism tradition by mixing up genres and crossing music boundaries. RAR/LMHR DJs started off the night by spinning the best in “Rebel Music” be it reggae, soul, rock n roll or punk...

Dustin’s Bar Mitzvah

In my opinion it is a very natural, but still basic and primitive reaction, to feel threatened or detached from anyone or anything that is superficially different to you. To educate and inform people living in a multicultural society of the importance of coexistence is key. But when supposedly 'well educated' people can form racist political parties, this can not be excused as ignorance - this is hate.
