I’d been expecting Friday’s gig to be a massive comedown after the enormodomes of Scandinavia, but it turned out to be possibly the best one we’ve ever done. I particularly enjoyed Richard standing on a plinth playing his guitar with a bottle of Stella. There was a really happy vibe helped in no small part [...]
Secretly recorded telephone conversations with Phil Edwards, the BNP’s national press officer shows the disgusting reality of the Nazi BNP. Mark Collet, leader of the youth wing of the BNP shows himself to be the vile racist he really is in David Modells Dispatches documentary. It's an honour for Anti-Flag to be working with "Love Music, Hate Racism". Organisations such as "LMHR" give inspiration and lend hope to countless artists, visionaries, activists, workers, human beings the world over. With every song we write and every show we play, Anti-Flag, attempts to use music as a catalyst for social justice and equality. Music is the reason each member of Anti-Flag is involved in activism, and "Love Music, Hate Racism" is ensuring that music will reach and inspire others in the way music has inspired us…. Music can breakdown barriers and bring people together regardless of nationality, social class, sexual orientation, religion, gender, or colour of skin. Humanity has progressed too far to allow one step backwards… Find your song, sing it loud, end racism and bring all people together
Following Tory leader David 'clueless' Cameron's ill-judged and racist comments about hip-hop music we wrote to artists who've supported LMHR for their thoughts. Lethal Bizzle came straight back to us with his response (see previous News item), and also sent his thoughts direct to Cameron's office who sent back a short neutral breply, only for Cameron two days later to put the boot into Lethal in an article in the Mail on Sunday. Cameron's reply only underlined his clueless bigoted views on black music. See below for follow-up articles and links - and do let us know your views on politicians scapegoating black artists for society's problems.
I think there is no place for racism or fascism in modern society. It’s damaging and also plays no positive role in peoples lives. In the year 2006 people should have moved on from this but obviously there is still a fight for racial equality. I hope that through music and other things that we can bring and understanding and equality to society and allow everybody respect each other no matter about their ethnicity or cultural background. I love the work that the love music hate racism are doing to fight this battle and lend my full support to any campaigns and positive initiatives that they are doing to eradicate this problem.
Tory leader David Cameron, has desperately tried to convince us he's a modern liberal politician with his embarassing "i'm down with black people" and "save the planet - vote tory" press stunts. But the liberal mask has slipped as Eton-educated Cameron displayed his ignorance about black music with ill-informed comments about hip-hop music. In a bid to get headlines about his tough stance on knife and gun crime, Cameron trotted out the tired old racist myth that hip-hop music encourages violent crime.
