    MIXING MUSIC AND POLITICS: RAR and LMHR

    LMHR organiser Lee Billingham was interviewed by MA student Pedro de Barros for his thesis "How does music work to become a political form of communication when used by mass movements?", using the success of Rock Against Racism and LMHR as a way of looking at the relationship between music and politics.

Local groups including local youth and community organisations, colleges, trade unionists and musicians and music fans will be out in force to drive home the Love Music Hate Racism message and stress that racist parties like the BNP are not welcome in the area.

  • BARKING & DAGENHAM IN THE MIX FESTIVAL UNITES COMMUNITY

    Saturday's In the Mix festival in Barking & Dagenham was a big success, drawing over 500 local people to a unique festival aimed at celebrating the borough's diverse community - black and white, young and old. LMHR sponsored the music stage which featured great performances from local heroes OT Crew, Ny with MC Purple, the excellent Nu-MCs, and LMHR faves Metro Riots. Barking & Dagenham mayor Dee Hunt praised the festival and urged support for LMHR's "good work" across the borough and beyond.
