EDUCATE & CELEBRATE: BARKING COLLEGE/GMB/LMHR BLACK HISTORY MONTH EVENT

CELEBRATING BLACK HISTORY + ANTI-RACISM: MAJOR BHM EVENTS AT BARKING COLLEGE

October is of course designated Black History Month (BHM). We are delighted announce two BHM events at Barking College later this month - in the borough where the fascist BNP have 12 local councillors. The events are organised by Barking College, the GMB union and LMHR to celebrate both Black History and also our shared black and white people's history of fighting racism. The events will bring together educators and students, trade union members, music artists, celebrities and politicians and of course campaigners and local community groups in one place for the first time since the election of the BNP councillors in Barking & Dagenham in May. BNP Candidate in Chemical Weapons and Rocket Launcher Raid While the Press Obsess About Clothing

By Josh Fenton-Glynn and Marie Xenos On Thursday 28th of September police raided two houses finding in one a rocket launcher and in another the largest quantity of chemical weapons of their type found in any raid in this country. Both houses had extremist literature. These were not Muslim terrorists which the press would so readily have you believe. These two men were supporters of the Nazi British National Party. One man had stood as a candidate for the BNP in the last elections.


Mosque Visits Help Quake Victims

By Thisislancashire.co.uk A DELEGATION of young people from Lowton and Golborne Youth Club visited a Bolton mosque to make a donation towards victims of the Pakistani earthquake disaster. The youth group raised the money by holding a Love Music/Hate Racism dance music night at Lowton Civic Hall in September.

On the 4 October 1936, the people of the East End of London prevented Oswald Mosley and his British Union of Fascists from marching through Cable Street in Stepney, then a mainly Jewish area. This happened just three months after the start of the Spanish Civil War when people from all over the world went to Spain to fight General Franco and his fascists in a prelude to the Second World War. In Spain and in the East End the same slogan was used: NO PASARAN! THEY SHALL NOT PASS!

Report of Dirty Pretty Things and Roll Deep show for Barking and Dagenham Love Music Hate Racism

On Saturday 30th of September Barking and Dagenham Love Music Hate Racism organised our most successful event yet. The event was attended by around 500 people and was headlined by band of the moment Dirty Pretty Things along with top grime crew Roll Deep. The event sent out a clear message that people in Barking and Dagenham are ready and willing to stand up to the BNP and racism in their area.
