We can now unveil our complete line-up for our show in the Left Field at this year's Glastonbury Festival. LMHR takes over the 5,000-capacity Left Field big tent for the Saturday night (June 23rd), kicking off with a debate on how can we can best take on racism and fascism, and followed by an eclectic line-up we reckon is unparalalled anywhere else at the festival (click the title for more details). Hard-Fi .... Akala .. Get Cape.Wear Cape.Fly .. Lethal Bizzle .. Noisettes .. rodney P .. Killa Kela .. Natty .. No Lay .. The Mentalists .. DJs Skitz & Statik. *Throughout the weekend there'll be an LMHR/UAF stall inside the Left Field, so if you're going to the festival and can spare us an hour or two to help promote LMHR we'd like to hear from you too. *

HOUSING MYTHS FUEL BNP RACISM

Barking MP Margaret Hodge's inaccurate and inflammatory comments that “We prioritise the needs of an individual migrant family over the entitlement others feel that they have”, have been slammed by housing and anti-fascist campaigners, local councillors, trade unionists, LMHR supporters and Labour Party members. Weyman Bennett, Joint Secretary of Unite Against Fascism commented: "The fascist BNP is crawling all over this debate which is providing it with rich pickings. The BNP flourish in a climate of racist myths against black communities, Muslims, migrants and asylum seekers. They have no interest in improving housing – their real aim is to target isolated, and marginalised communities with racism as fascist parties do in order to make gains. The fact that the BNP opposed increased social housing when it was proposed at Barking and Dagenham council exposes the reality of its fascist agenda. Today, the BNP’s website is welcoming Margaret Hodge’s comments. UAF believes these comments were ill-advised and wrong.” Click the title of this item for more.

An abundance of activity in Stoke on Trent

Stoke on Trent now has the is now the second highest number of BNP councillors in any local authority other than Barking & Dagenham, hence lots of anti-racist and anti-fascist activity is necessary in the area, that’s why LMHR was involved in 4 events in the city in just 12 days.

PROTESTS LEAD TO BNP LEADER GRIFFIN BEING STOP PED FROM SPEAKING AT BATH UNI

Late Thursday, the University of Bath refused permission for Nick Griffin, leader of the fascist BNP to give a lecture, which was due to take place on Monday 14th May 2007. Local trade unions including UCU, UNISON and Amicus joined with the National Union of Students and Bath University Students Union - as well as Unite Against Fascism (UAF) and LMHR - to mount a campaign to prevent Griffin from being allowed to speak at the university on the grounds that fascist politics pose a danger to the diversity of students and staff alike. In areas that the BNP target, such as Barking and Dagenham, racist attacks and other hate crimes increase.

ANTI-FASCIST CAMPAIGN HALTS BNP - BUT NO ROOM FOR COMPLACENCY

The fascist British National Party (BNP) has suffered a serious setback in its bid to make a further breakthrough in Thursday's elections. The racist organisation made a net gain of just ONE local councillor - winning nine, but losing eight. This, despite them standing over 750 local council candidates across the country. The BNP's dismal performance is a tribute to the mass campaigning that took place in the run-up to the elections. Across the UK, thousands of people distributed anti-fascist leaflets, and many many successful anti-racist gigs and other events were organised to highlight the BNP threat. In a final push yesterday, scores of music stars - supporters of the Love Music Hate Racism (LMHR) campaign - sent out emails and website appeals to their fans to vote to stop the BNP. LMHR was deluged with emails and myspace messages from music fans who said this had prompted them to go out use their vote. Hard-Fi said, "The BNP have once again tried to use misinformation and distortion in an attempt to deceive the British public. Hard-Fi wish to state our continued opposition to the BNP and continued support for Love Music Hate Racism and the fight against racism and fascism." Lethal Bizzle said: "The BNP's failure in the local elections is brilliant news. I'm so glad to be associated with Love Music Hate Racism, and as an artist with such multicultural fans I'm gonna continue to support the cause through my music."
