SIX TOWNS ONE CITY CARNIVAL - STOKE

The Stoke Unity Project is hosting a special carnival to celebrate the City's diversity. An eclectic mix of artists and groups will join together in defence of Stoke's multi-culturalism in the wake of the BNP's presence there. There will be a number of activities taking place throughout the day for all ages.


STOKE DAY OF ACTION

Local people – including members of trade unions, community, faith and youth groups – will be coming together on Saturday 26th July to leaflet and talk with other people in the communities most affected by the threat of racism and fascism facing our city. Everybody concerned about this problem is urged to join us on the 26th.


STOKE BLACK MINORITY ETHNIC FORUM - ‘CELEBRATING DIVERSITY’

The BME Forum are a holding a 'Celebrating Diversity' event at the Kings Hall, Stoke on 5th February 2008, 5.30pm. The event is the first annual event to celebrate the diverse cultures in Our City, there will be a multi-cultural buffet, various cultural performances, quizes, art and dvd showing peoples perception of culture and diversity. Everyone is welcome and entry is free.

‘BNP BALLERINA’ PROTESTS COME TO STOKE-ON-TRENT

Anti-fascists will be staging a protest outside the Regent Theatre in Stoke-on-Trent this Saturday, 3rd March, at 1.30pm, before the matinee performance of the English National Ballet's "The Canterville Ghost" against Simone Clarke, principal dancer with the English National Ballet, who has publicly declared her membership of the British National Party (BNP). The protest has been called by the Stoke branch of the national Love Music Hate Racism (LMHR) campaign, and is also supported by local anti-fascist campaign Norscarf.

The BNP now have 5 councillors in Stoke; The fightback starts here - 3 of the city's biggest promoters have come together in the city's biggest venue which will have a huge LMHR/UAF banner on its city-centre outside wall for weeks before the event. 3-rooms (rock & indie / urban & r&b / drum n bass) featuring Ginger (The Wildhearts), Kray Twinz, Andy Rourke (The Smiths - DJ set), Pendulum and other top acts will line up with local anti-fascist campaigners and sports stars to send out the message that the fascist BNP are not welcome in Stoke. The event is supported by NORSCARF and the Fire Brigades Union Region No.7
