LMHR @ GLASTONBURY

  • When: Thursday, June 26th, 2003
  • Glastonbury

Thursday 26 June, 7pm-early hours

We’re delighted to be hosting the opening night in the Left Field at Glastonbury Festival.

The Left Field started at last year’s Glasto and is run by Battersea & Wandsworth Trade Union Council and Workers Beer Company to promote trade unionism and other political causes. At last year’s event they had the likes of Tony Benn, Mark Thomas and Billy Bragg debating music and politics.

See below for the confirmed line-up for Thursday night…

Also, on the Saturday night (28th), Manchester’s stunning urban soul stars Un-Cut will be doing an exclusive show in the Leftfield under the LMHR banner.

Finally, we’ll be hosting a debate in the Leftfield on “Stopping the Nazis Today”, on Sunday (29th) at 11.30am with speakers including comedian Mark Steel

0000-0100 L Double (Radio 1Xtra / Flex Records)
A veteran of the drum n bass / jungle scene, Double mixes all styles across the board to get the place jumpin … has already showed his support for the cause by appearing at our London launch party last December.

2300-0000 Heartless Crew (Radio 1Xtra / eastwest records)
Did someone say somethin’ ’bout Bashment? Nowadays everybody’s mixing every urban music style - playing only one sound is nearly a thing of the past. Heartless got there first: DJ Fonti’s “Crisp Biscuit” mixing method brings in garage, r&b, ragga, jungle and hip-hop without dropping a beat, alongside two of the funniest most flexible MCs in the biz - Might Moe and Bushkin. Together, Heartless give you vibes you can’t match, as their legions of faithful fans up and down the country are proof. Led the demonstration before last year’s LMHR Manchester Carnival - distressing the megaphone with anti-BNP chants so much that Moe’s voice conked out half-way thru the show! “They call us Heartless cos our heart’s in the music”

2100-2200 Skitz & Rodney P (Radio 1Xtra)We’re delighted to welcome the UK’s finest home-grown hip-hop producer - “Daddy” Skitz, alongside the UK’s ruffest hip-hop MC, ex-London Posse ‘riddim killa’ Rodney P. These two rocked the main-stage crowd at last year’s LMHR carnival like many a stage before it and will be sure to leave ya head ringin’ and backside swingin’ tonight with the best hip-hop from across the globe, topped off with unique original London lyrical style. Also contributors to the forthcoming LMHR benefit compilation CD.

2000-2100 Emma Feline (Twice as Nice) These days Feline is recognised as not only a leading female DJ within UK garage, but as one of the main players in her own right. Feline is resident for leading promotion Twice as Nice and is currently the hottest property and pioneer of UK garage in America.
Forever innovating and setting trends, by mixing hip hop, r ‘n b, house and drum ‘n bass into her UK garage sets, versatility is Feline’s key. Her talent for adapting and assessing the crowd has increased her popularity with the people. This is proven through her strong and dedicated following.

1900-2000 Montello (Turnmills) + Steve Merrylees (Big Chill) - Two top-class DJs dropping an eclectic funky mixture of house, techno, disco, electro & naughty bootlegs to warm things up nicely for us.
