Love Music Hate Racism Carnival in Leeds
- When: Sunday, April 23rd, 2006
- Leeds University
- £5/£3
After the grand success of our launch event on Sunday 19 March, Love Music Hate Racism in Leeds are putting on a carnival event at Leeds University on 23 April as part of a series of national events to be held all over the country
Our music is living testimony to the fact that cultures can and do mix. With the imminent local elections, where the fascist BNP are standing a record number of candidates, we want to show that they are the minority in Leeds and across the country sending a message to vote against the BNP in the elections.
The event is to be held over two Leeds University Student Union venues, Stylus and Mine. There will be a mix of nationally recognised groups and the finest from the Leeds music scene, as well as performances from local school, youth and community groups. The school and community group performances will kick off the event in Mine at 2pm. These will be rounded off with performances from The Playmates (Leeds indie pioneers) and Yorkshire Terrierz (leading Leeds urban group) before the event moves to Stylus at 7pm for the evening’s live music.
