As part of the National Black History Month, Barking College will be holding a ‘Celebrate and Educate for Black History’ event on Saturday 28th October 2006. The GMB London Region Race committee and Love Music Hate Racism (LMHR) will be the co-hosts, and the event is supported by the South East Region of the TUC (SERTUC) as well as the T&GWU, CWU, NUT, and Unite Against Fascism.

We are delighted to be involved in this event - in the borough where the fascist BNP have 12 local councillors. The events are designed to celebrate both Black History and also our shared black and white people’s history of fighting racism.

The events will bring together educators and students, trade union members, music artists, celebrities and politicians, and of course campaigners and local community groups in one place for the first time since the election of 12 fascist BNP councillors in Barking & Dagenham in May.
