Never Again! Holocaust Memorial Day in Brigton

A series of talks, films, music and discussions on racism, xenophobia and genocide on Holocaust Memorial Day. And a series of Brighton bands in gigs dedicated to fighting racism and anti-semitism.

The event is organised by the ‘Politics, Philosophy, Aesthetics’ Seminar Group at the University of Brighton in conjunction with ‘Unite Against Fascism’ and ‘Love Music Hate Racism’.

Music events/gigs at The Beach (26th Jan) and the Hobgoblin (27th jan).

The films and talks will be held at the Sallis Benney Theatre, Grand Parade (opposite the King and Queen), and at the School of Historical and Critical Studies (University of Brighton), Pavilion Street (opposite the Royal Pavilion). Contributors will include the leader of Brighton & Hove City Council, Simon Burgess; popular local writer, comedian and Stonewall co-founder Simon Fanshawe, Green Party MEP for London, Jean Lambert, as well as representatives of the Labour Party and Respect, along with prominent academics with expertise in the Holocaust, anti-semitism, genocide, philosophy and culture. Weyman Bennett from UAF and Lee Billingham from LMHR will also be speaking.

Admission is FREE, but participants MUST register.

‘Never Again’ is preceded on Friday night (26th) by a Love Music Hate Racism-themed club night running from 10pm at The Beach nightclub, with R&B and hip-hop DJs including BBC 1Xtra’s Rampage. Admission £7.
Following the Saturday daytime event, The Hobgoblin, 31 York Place, will host a Love Music Hate Racism benefit gig, featuring local rising stars The Reveals, My Tour of Duty, and Philanthropy. 6pm-11pm, admission £4/£2concs.

The talks and discussions:
