Unite Against Fascism Urgent Action : Keep fascists out of Oxford Union
Convicted Holocaust-denier David Irving and BNP leader Nick Griffin, who has a conviction for inciting racial hatred, have been invited to address Oxford Union’s free speech forum.
Unite Against Fascism and Oxford University Students Union are campaigning to stop fascists being given a platform. We must ensure that we replicate the successful campaign which stopped Nick Griffin speaking at Bath University this May.

Write to Luke Tryl, President of Oxford Union on president@oxford-union.org asking him to rescind the invites to Griffin and Irving , and instead invite speakers who believe in freedom of speech for all.
Write to Dr. Evan Harris MP, who is currently participating in the forum, asking him to withdraw from this debate on info@evanharris.org.uk
5. Attend the peaceful demo in the event that Griffin and Irving speak; it will coincide with the Freedom of speech forum that they have been invited to on Monday 26 November, 7pm outside Oxford Union Oxford Unite Against Fascism, Oxford University Student Union, Oxford University Labour Club, Oxford and District Trades Council, Oxfordshire UNISON Health and Unite Against Fascism.
The Oxford Union should not be providing a platform for fascist British National Party (BNP) leader Nick Griffin and Holocaust denier David Irving in the Free Speech Forum on Monday 26 November.
There is a world of difference between defending free speech and choosing to provide a platform for fascists. Far from being the champions of free speech history shows that when fascists rise to power they destroy freedom of speech, democracy, human rights and they have murdered millions of people and attempted to annihilate entire communities. Wherever fascists have a presence, violence and intimidation increases.
Fascism threatens the safety of Black, Jewish, Muslim, lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people of Oxford including students and academics. Wherever fascists are active or have a presence, racist attacks and other hate crimes increase.
