Shrewsbury College of Arts and Technology celebrates and values the diversity of its students. To support the national campaign Love Music Hate Racism, an outdoor concert is organised for Saturday 24th May 2008 at the London Road campus.

The concert involves a number of county bands. Playing from S-CAT are Octagon Sun, , Shattered Skyline and Stalking Jo. Shrewsbury Sixth Form is represented by Will Bond and Rob Sankey (DJ Sets) and headline band The Chemistry Club. Also appearing are county artistes Jia Jinx, The Sibling Rivalry and Stef with a showcase performance from CORE of Meole Brace School.

Lauren Smith, Social Secretary, from Shrewsbury Sixth Form said, “We are very pleased and proud to be involved in supporting the concert which sends out a clear message.”

Emma Hartland, Shrewsbury College Student Union member said, “We are very excited about the concert and we are delighted that Sixth Form students are supporting us. It will be a really good night especially as we are highlighting local bands and bringing awareness to such a good cause.”

Radio One DJ Greg James will appear at the concert and families with their children are encouraged to come along. Also attending the event are belly dancers, circus acts, jewellery making, face painting, licensed bar and food. There is also an acoustic area. Tickets are £5 in advance and are available from: The Masala Restaurant, The Belmont Centre, Sixth Form reception, Recycled Records and Shrewsbury College, London Road and Radbrook receptions. Gates open at 5.30pm.

The supporting committee has been presented with a £2,000 cheque in sponsorship for the Love Music, Hate Racism concert by Barclays Bank, Castle Street Branch Manager, Sue Nicholls.
