Kayvew, son of reggae success Apache Indian backs the campaign against the BNP
Kayvew is an artist from Birmingham, UK who uses rap music to create awareness to social, political and global issues. Son of reggae success Apache Indian, Kayvew has been involved with music from an early age and is currently promoting his new song “Open your eyez” which is the lead track for “The Heritage History Campaign”.
The campaign being led by Kayvew aims to make people aware that history lessons in schools are not including enough about the history of places like India, Africa, and other homelands of minority groups living in Great Britain. A lot of this history directly involves the British which makes it British history as well, so why is it not taught? Kayvew suggests that maybe the government (who decide the curriculum) may feel embarrassed or ashamed to teach certain things that the British did to the ancestors of minority groups currently living here.
Kayvew is also trying to create awareness to the policies of the B.N.P, urging minority groups to stop fighting amongst each other and to take notice of bigger issues. An online petition was started on www.kayvew.com to show support for the campaign, the song and the fight against the B.N.P; within 1 week this petition received over 200 positive entries and its there for everybody to see or add to. Kayvew has also written articles for magazines, websites, done interviews, given talks, and set up his own website (www.kayvew.com) to spread his message and create awareness to his campaign. The lead track “Open your eyez” has created an incredible buzz around this young artist, currently receiving heavy radio play and generating a lot of positive feedback!
