Rock Against Racism Unite Against Facism

Love music and hate racism in 2004

2004 could be a decisive year in the fight against racism, particularly the racist poison that is the Nazi BNP (British National Party). On Thursday 10 June there are two lots of elections being held - European and local council. The BNP claim they will stand a record 1,000 candidates in these elections - a worrying thought - and even worse, they are aiming to get a Euro MP which would gain them over ?200,000, an nice office in Brussels and worst of all would give them some respectability. After a great first full year in 2003, we hope the LMHR movement can play its part in uniting everyone who opposed the racism and fascism of the BNP to defend our multicultural society. A new coalition called Unite! has been set up to bring together everyone in a common effort to stop the BNP this summer. To find out more, join, and get involved Click here .

In the two weekends before June 10th, a number of LMHR and other anti-racist carnivals are going to be held. Plans for events in Stoke, Leeds and Newcastle are already in place with much more to come. It’s also vital that everyone everywhere holds smaller LMHR gigs and clubnights - celebrating our multiracial music scene and keeping the issue of racism in the spotlight.

LMHR will also be joining forces with the Respect! organisation, backed by the TUC and London mayor Ken Livingstone.

Organise a gig, give out some info from a LMHR stall, do your bit to stop the BNP and fight racism in 2004!

See the Gigs and Events section for lots of news of forthcoming LMHR events!
