GREAT ROLL DEEP/LMHR MUSIC VIDEO IN THE CAN - REPORT AND PICS HERE
Last week saw celebrated young music video director M-O (Mo Ali - Lethal Bizzle/Fish Go Deep and many more) shoot a videofor Roll Deep’s song “Racist People” - which will also act as a promo for the LMHR campaign and inspire more music fans to join the fight to stop racism and the fascist BNP. Roll Deep penned the song after playing at LMHR’s memorial concert for racist murder victim Anthony Walker, and premiered it at last year’s LMHR Trafalgar Square carnival. The NASUWT teachers union this year agreed to fund a music video for the song as part of their support for LMHR.

- Report by LMHR’s Alison Philcock and Olivia Fletcher:
In the summer of 2005, Anthony Walker was killed with an axe as he walked his girlfriend home. The “rationale” behind this murder was simply the due to the fact that he was black and his girlfriend was white. In October 2005, LMHR along with members of Anthony Walker’s family LMHR put on an event in Anthony’s home city - Liverpool - ‘A tribute to Anthony Walker’ - Lupe Fiasco, Ms Dynamite and Roll Deep were amongst the artists who performed at the event.
Following that event, Roll Deep were inspired to write the track ‘Racist People’ which they later told LMHR about.
LMHR and RD decided to make a video for this track, which could be used to increase awareness of the LMHR campaign and as a means of artists using their music to make a stand against racism.
The video also ties in with the forthcoming LMHR/NME CD, as the track is also on the CD.
On Tuesday 11th September Roll Deep and LMHR took to the studio to create this video, which is also sponsored by the NASUWT teaching union as LMHR hope that the CD can be used in schools and also as a teaching aid.
LMHR invited other artists and musicians to make cameo appearances in the video, these included Lisa Moorish, Drew (Babyshambles), Dan (Idle Lovers), Lil Rascals and Ace and Vis (BBC Radio 1). David Okoro ( Anthony Walker’s cousin) also made an appearance in the video.
There was a wall graffitied with LMHR logos and LMHR arrows - in pink, yellow and black (LMHR colours) which is the background for most of the video. The video will include footage from other LMHR gigs / events / carnivals, as well as artists spray painting and holding LMHR placards.
