LOVE MUSIC HATE RACISM CARNIVAL WARM UP // WEDS 24 AUGUST @ GROW

August sees the return to the streets of one of the UK’s most important cultural celebrations, the Notting Hill Carnival. Love Music Hate Racism and Smokey Joe Roadshow will be warming up with a pre-party at Grow, Hackney on Wednesday 23rd August. Come along to this special night with a line-up representing the best of carnival culture.

The RebelClash moniker was born out of Patrick Williams, aka MC Rage’s, Jamaican heritage & deep appreciation for sound-system culture. Early influences from his Uncles the legendary Jamaican duo Papa Michigan & General Smiley who were signed to the infamous Studio One Label, culminated in his love and passion for playing Reggae on vinyl & acetate dubplates. RebelClash will be serving you some of the finest 7” Reggae & dub from his extensive collection.

Calypso band Tobago and D’Lime was created to record the songs for the Paddington films also making several on-screen appearances. The band have garnered rave reviews bringing a modern take to the tradition of calypso in the style of Buena Vista Social Club.

Smokey Joe renowned DJ/ Producer and former radio host of BBC London and The Beat London. Smokey has over 35 years of experience putting on floats at the Notting Hill Carnival. He’ll be warming you up with some carnival classics.

Lo London is a fresh, up & coming West London DJ to get excited about.  Specialising in all urban music, she’s been particularly popular within the soca community recently and is due to play for the Jamaican Twist float at NHC 2022.
